I think if Sea Base Alpha had to use Disney movie characters it would have made a lot more sense for it to be The Seas with Ariel and Friends since Ariels father is King Triton who is the son of Poseidon which makes Ariel Poseidons granddaughter. Also who knows the connection between man and the sea better than a mermaid who became human? It would have been the perfect fit. Nemo and Dory know nothing about the Future and the story has absolutely NOTHING to do with Future World or the concept of EPCOT Center!

I couldn't agree with you more. This ride has taken the path of so many other rides at EPCOT. I also wish they would call it "EPCOT Center" again!

I actually like the new Seas with Nemo. I was just there and the place was hopping. It used to be so dead, so it's nice that it is popular and not just a dead place. If adding Nemo makes it come alive then that's fine with me. Ariel with the Seas wouldn't be popular with families with little boys so that wouldn't work.

i don't think going nemo was a bad idea because it's a great way to get kids back into it and liven things up, but it essentially just dumbed it down.
i also think they could have done something with ariel and flounder and all that too, but not now, its too old even though its classic. but the princesses have made it everywhere else so who knows?

I think having an Ariel themed spot at the MK and an attraction at DHS is enough. Don't get me wrong, I love the Little Mermaid but I don't think it would've fit any worse or better than Nemo in the Seas.

Me personally, I was thrilled to death with the Nemo refurb because it brought back to life the Sea Cabs (or Clamobiles as they are called now). I loved it then and love it now. Just wish they moved it a liiiiitle slower.

With all due respect to those who are Finding Nemo Fans, I have to confess... Nemo the movie annoys me. I thought the new update of The Living Seas Nemo and Friends is lacking. Personally besides entertaining 3 and 4 year olds, I don't see the appeal. It's dull. Crush The Turtle is about the only thing that got me to smile. Crush is totally righteous.

I'd have to agree about Ariel, I don't see where tossing her in would be any improvement for The Seas. I think keeping The Little Mermaid in The Magic Kingdom with the other Disney Princess' is a better route.

The old Living Seas was always sort of a drag, with the "It rained and it rained....and it rained..." film before going down to the ride, but honestly it still had real fish, manatee, and a more 'ocean feel'. I think creating a new Living Seas would still be on my list, one that explores the depths of the seas in an imaginative and educational way, which use to be the framework for what Epcot Center brought to life.

I so agree - can't stand the Nemo ride but I go on it a lot and it's good for the kids. I see so many kids on it loving it. I wish they had made something NEMO elsewhere and kept the old Living Seas, but progress is progress.


I do feel a pang of YUCK when I go on it but the ride queue is fantastic. The clamshells are fun, too. Nemo is just annoying.

I understand the reasons why the Living Seas was converted to Nemo and Friends, as the pavilion really became empty before the change over). It does appear to be a "success" among the masses, but absent the music, I really no longer care for this pavilion. I may visit it once a month, but more likely only when me kids ask me to take them on the clam-mobile (I like that name!).

I still do enjoy the aquariums. We went to EPCOT last Sunday and there were divers cleaning all the rocks in the tanks with scrub brushes - seems like an odd job to have!

The quizzes are pretty difficult up in the kid area. I wasn't thinking and chose the Advanced quiz (even though I know nothing of undersea life really) and couldn't answer the first questions. Still, some nice interactive areas in this pavilion and encouraging learning, which is the point of EPCOT after all.

The Nemo ride has dumbed down the ride, but the pavilion is still valid as an educational tool.

It's a GREAT ride-when you are not stuck on ot - but great for AK MK or DHS.

I really miss the preshow though...I wish they coulda kept the SeaCabs.And the old Narration:And it rained and rained and rained-THE DELUGE!!!-is classic EPCOT Center.
